Shutkin, D. (Forthcoming) Becoming the Future: The Lake Highlands Middle School Laptop and Learning Initiative.

Tusch, Erich G.. “Expect Surprises with 1-to-1 Laptops.” Education Digest, v. 78 issue 3, 2012, p. 41-45.

Tusch does an admirable job realistically assessing the pitfalls and pleasant surprises that developed while bringing laptops to each student and faculty member. The laptop initiative began in 2004 and the article affords us the opportunity to look at the development of a 1-to-1 laptop program that has evolved over the past 8 years. While the maintenance and repair components are discussed at length, of particular interest is the level of creativity, excitement and success the program saw. In a time when school budgets were being slashed, the commitment to this initiative remained high among parents, students and faculty. - Devorah
