Garland, V. E. (2009). Emerging Technology Trends and Ethical Practices for the School Principal.  Journal of Educational Technology Systems, 38(1), 39-50.

This article discusses how school leaders have an important responsibility to not only lead in the use of technology, but also lists many factors an administrator must be aware with the integration of technology.  There are factors such as, gender, race, SES, Language, and disabilities that create inequalities in Technology and need to be addressed in each district.  Also, there is a discussion on legal issues, online safety, , copyright, children’s health, and electronic waste in which the administrators must address.   - Shawn

Administrators where are your iPads?

SCHAFFHAUSER, D. (2012). Administrators, Where Are Your iPads?. T H E Journal, 39(1), 43.

This article talks about the many offerings of professional development on iPads; however, she says what is usually missing is the administrators role.  Schaffehauser says it is up to the administrator to make sure the technology is being used effectively, because as a teacher you cannot control what goes on in other classrooms.  She points out that administrators are not always ready for the iPad initiatives that take place and they do not know what to expect.  The article then talks about teachers using the iPad for drill and practice or simply for research which can be done on many other devices.  Brooks-Young explains that if the staff members are guided and shown their options the teacher will be more apt to use the iPad correctly.  -Ashley

Students, Please Turn to YouTube.pdf

JOHNSON, G. (2012). STUDENTS, PLEASE TURN TO YouTube FOR YOUR ASSIGNMENT. Education Canada, 52(5), 16-18.

Johnson, certainly has become an empowered leader. A math teacher in British Columbia, Johnson develops from a lecturer to an educator and charts his professional growth and development in this fascinating article. Looking at the success of moodle and flipped classrooms, Johnson applies those technologies to his math class and shows how to remain consistent to educational goals while involving technology. -Devorah
